Let’s put it this way. My cat was killed by the house mother and then eaten by her. Sure Vera was crazy, but pets unless for a science project are off limits.

Mara was kind of a recluse now a days. When she had first gotten to Liverpool, no one had seen her as anything but a nerd. She was smart, yes but there was so much more to her. Don’t talk, just read and laugh when something is funny. Sometimes in the house she felt like some thing amazing was going on and in Anubis there were obviously cliques. It seemed like there was this secret gang and she hadn’t been invited.
Mara Jaffray, always the odd one out. She had tried to be noticed. When she heard people gossip about her she tried to change. Too “mara” for them. She took it to an extreme, dressing up with dark makeup and straightened hair and lacy tights. Mara Jaffray will not be unheard. Still she felt no one noticed her. Last year she had a boyfriend, Clayton and they said I love you too fast. Word got out and the people in Anubis mocked her.
They obviously don’t care about me, they obviously hate me. Mara couldn’t help but be self conscious After Clayton and her broke up she started dating another boy and then another. She was just trying things out while she was young and free and able to live for love. No one in Anubis was going to talk to her. They still mocked her and called her the school slut, she didn’t mean to. This was high school the time to make mistakes. Why must they always judge her.
Slut slut slut slut, these thoughts ran through her head. She moved on, past that lifestyle. She cared what they thought, she couldn’t help it. These are the most painful and emotional years of ones life, she just couldn’t help it. She traded in boys for her loyal books. Her books didn’t judge her.
Through all this she stayed the same though, bubbly witty mara. She hadn’t changed at all, just her actions and personal life. They all slowly began accepting her again. She was comfortable with herself again. Mara and books together forever. With a book in hand and a cup of tea by her side Mara would always be found in the living room, especially when it was raining.
The gang seemed to begin to form again, and Mara still wasn’[t in it. She couldn’t help but feel left out. It was just her natural tendency. Was she too insecure, was she being herself. Were they judging her. Who is Mara Jaffray? WHO IS SHE?
The kindle I got for Christmas doesn’t match the feel and scent of books, but the liverpool bookstore and library don’t have what I need from the comfort of my favorite chair in Anubis house.
